In the wake of the development of the welding technology training in India, the GSI Foreign Coordinator, Dipl. Ing. Christian Ahrens, inspected Indian companies in Mumbai, Indore, Bengaluru and Trichy on July 6 16, 2015.
The contact was initiated by the "Indian Day" of iMove. Christian Ahrens gained an overview of the equipment of state-run training centres called ITIs (Industrial Training Institutes) and privately managed companies which are interested in cooperation for the training of, for example, welding instructors.
GSI was able to receive declarations of intent for Train the Trainer (TTT) training courses at several locations. In addition, there were inquiries about the range of e learning on offer for the International Welding Engineer (IWE) and the International Welding Specialist (IWS). Seminars about resistance welding have already been instigated and can probably be staged in India in October 2015.
There is already collaboration with Tattvam Weldtech Private Limited in Bengaluru in the field of company certification. Since May 2015, the audits according to EN 15085 have been concluded not only with Tattvam Weldtech but also with two other companies. Further audits are under preparation for the end of the year.
