The NIL (Dutch Association of welding) invited the EWF (European Welding Federation) to Rotterdam for the annual meeting in May 2014. The highlight of this event was the meeting place.  The historical cruise ship “SS Rotterdam”, which served as both the meeting place and as the participant’s hotel.

Japanese arc physicist visited the SLV Duisburg

Speaking at a meeting of the Standards Committee ISO/TC44/SC10-11 in Berlin made Prof. Yoshinori Hirata (a recognized arc physicist at Osaka University) the good contacts with Dr. Klaus Middeldorf, CEO of GSI mbH, to share their experiences about the practical application of new welder qualification test standard ISO 9606-1 in the SLV Duisburg.

Representatives of NAKS - the National Agency for control of welding technology in Russia have visited the SLV Duisburg on April 28th, 2014. The aim of the visit was the continuation of regular consultations between NAK and the GSI on training and testing of welders and welding supervisors and training and testing in the field of nondestructive testing.

This was the first time that NAKS delegation had the opportunity to get to know in detail the work of a welding teaching and a research institute in the fields of education, technology and research.
