With spark spectral analysis, materials based on iron, aluminium, copper and nickel can be analysed chemically at SLV Duisburg.
These material analyses permit a statement about the weldability of the various metallic materials as well as quality control in comparison with the respective material test certificates and the respective normative stipulations. Particularly in the case of old steels which were largely manufactured by means of unkilled casting and are characterised by segregation zones with high sulphur, phosphorus and/or nitrogen contents, spectral analyses across the material cross section lead to a meaningful result about the weldability. Instructions about the execution of welding work can be elaborated on this basis.
